Trying Too Hard

Hello again and welcome back to Natural Opinion. Today our topic is 'trying too hard' and no for those of you snickering at the back of the class that doesn't mean getting to second base.

To clarify I am going to rag on those people out there who think it's so awesome to be part of 18billion people who LOVE pineapples, and the 17 thousand people who hate regular apples because they are inferior to the pineapple- let not forget the 33 hundred people who can't go a day with out eating a pineapple, and the 100 who have fantasies about said pineapple and want to marry it and the 5 people who will abduct the pineapple and make it in to their personal sex slaves.

"Why N.O. no body is that obsessed with fruit! Why are you taking this so seriously?"

Well for those of you asking this question, i will say "Congratulations, you deserve a sign." For those of you who understood the metaphor but just said, "I'm not like that." as you glance at your posters of your favorite Twitter, Youtube or Facebook star of the moment. I say fore shame.

For everyone else, the average Joe (or Jane) of cyberspace, I ask in return; 'Why is everyone trying so hard?' It seems these days you can't turn around with out someone trying to be the next It girl, the scandal setter, or even the homecoming queen of queens. Everyone is following one trend or another near blindly and they forget that they are just following the sheep being herded in to the slaughter house.

It is the people who have to try and impress people with their lacking of wit and their not so subtle cloning of someone else that are killing the creativity of the world. (before you tell me i am wrong go look at Hollywood and rethink that).

The phrase 'If everyone was jumpnig off a bridge would you follow them?' comes to mind suddenly, and apparently the answer for most people who live on this planet would say YES I HAVE THEM ALL ON TWITTER AND FB AND MYSPACE AND WE'RE MEETING UP FOR THE BIG JUMP THIS AFTER NOON.

Seriously! People wake up! As the comic above shows us, 'A really great idea is easily sold.' but a really dumb idea is even easier to follow!

In short, STOP TRYING SO HARD! Don't post your every move on Twitter, FB Myspace or even Youtube. Don't clone Gaga because everyone thinks pointed bras are suddenly cool again. Don't rush out and by rocker t-shirts and hoodies because the next guitar hero hit stores. Don't pierce your lower lip because every thinks it looks cool.

Just be your self and who cares what everyone thinks at the end of the day, because as the great Dr. Suess said.

Think about it.
