Canadian Government V.S. Internet Rights

Hello again and welcome back to natural opinion. Like always I am here today to express my stead fast opinions on issues and topics that I find either interesting or relevant during the course of any day. This day however I am going to dig out the big guns in order to talk to you all about Internet Private policy and what the Canadian political boxing ring is doing to once again attempt to squander it.

Following on the coat tails of the internet censorship campignes that spread like wild fire through national and international politics bringing outcry from people in every nation Canadian Liberal Political party introduced a bill proposition to once again alter the state of internet flux for all Canadians, using the voice of Public Safety Minister Vic Toews.

The bill proposed was Bill C-30 'Lawful Access Legislation'  And for those of you hiding under the political rock who do not know what this bill means to you, the bill will force ISP's (Internet Service Providers) to store and make information on the internet activity of their consumers readily avaible to the Government and Police forces. Supposedly the police forces will require a warrent to access that information, yet, the bill will also permit "them" to obtain IP address (This is the number that identifies the COMPUTER not PERSON using that internet connection.), Email Addresses, mobile phone numbers and other information with out the use of a court ordered

So why would the government need a "surveillance by design*" bill?

"As technology Evolves, many criminal activities, such as the distribution of child pornography become much easier," (Toews) told the house.**

Naturally people where cautious to approach this bill; as it indeed imposes on our rights to privacy, and indeed when called out on such a fact, Toews responded with the following.

Needless to say, this is what lit the fire under the keyboards of many forum goers spurring debates, meme's even the notorious accounts attacking the bill on social media outlet Twitter, the most well known being... The VikiLeaks30  account attack against Mr Toews which flooded the account with tweets dealing with his personal divorce case. Not to mention the #tellviceverything Hash tag frenzy that spammed Mr. Toews with mudane user information.

Despite the Public outcry Mr. Toews and his party stand firm with the C-30 Bill. Mr. Toews expressed a disgust at the gutter politics being implimented by the people behined the VikiLeaks30 twitter account and refuses to "sink to that level"

This whole issue has even spurred the action of a loose collective of hackers known only as Anonymous in to action speaking out against this bill and even 'threatening Mr. Toews Via Youtube videos where the posters wear Guy Fox Masks made popular by the Hollywood film V of vendetta.

One such threat is presented here left.

In a recent article Released by CBC News reported Mr. Toews' responce to these videos.

:''This online group called anonymous that posted the videos hides behind masks and their claime to anonymity, and it is their threats that clearly attempt to intimidate me, and in face all parliamentarians, as we carry out our democratically elected responsibilities,'' Toews said.
.... The RCMP continues to investigate threats against him, and that those threats go beyond the youtube videos, though he preferred not to elaborate on them.
''I think all Canadians should be concerned by these types of threats posed to our democracy by these online bullies and thugs who  in fact are intimidating the democratic process.'':

One can only wonder if Mr Toews understands that these online bullies are in fact people of this nation who are entitled to their rights of protest. Entitled to have their voices heard. Which indeed follows through the freedom of speech, which in the same article they continue to report....

:He Said that he views freedom of speech as precious and that he protects it, but that the videos ''crossed the line''
''I do not believe that members of parliament should be held hostage, afraid to do what they feel is right for fear that unnamed thugs might threaten them,'' He told the committee ''Canadians deserve better'':

Anon supporters protest rally
Is it not fair to say that Mr. Toews is indeed attempting to bully the Canadian people with well woven words in to cow toeing in to line and letting people simply have their rights ripped from them? I happen to agree with this hacker group, openly and will continue to do so.

The very idea that Mr. Toews believes that it is right to impose the idea that Canadian people should have no secrets or privacy on the internet or elsewhere, yet believes he should not have to have a taste of his own medication is ridiculous.

Of course the fact that there is mention of "Other threats outside the Videos" goes to suggest that bodily harm has been threatened towards Mr. Toews and this i am not okay with. Lets leave the boxing to the professionals, as the information war is more then effective.

Making a martyr out of Mr. Toews will only inflame the government to crack down on this bill, and to be fair the government body of Canada has placed the bill on hold until it can be amended and reshaped to make it more appropriate. We shall have to see what comes from it.

I happen to oppose this bill. It won't stop the predators, in fact it will only serve to put the averaged Joe (or Jane) in prison for nothing more then having someone access they're wireless internet to look at and/or distribute child pornography or other criminal offenses that plague the internet and world at large.

Though this is just my Natural Opinion when my freedoms and rights are being squandered by Hippocratic Governments or Dictators.

Memes of the hour!

Hello again, Welcome back to Natural Opinion.
So as i am sure you have guessed today i am going to be disect- i mean discussing memes!

"Oh Natural Opinion, why oh why would you say that word! Now the troll are flocking!"

Yes, it would appear they are! Normally i would be hiding right along with you dear reader under that flimsy cardboard box hoping they don't find me! However i have sent them a special invitation to this little shindig of ours!

Why you may ask? Well because lets face it, Everyone likes meme's. they make us laugh or cry, or stare at our computers in slack-jawed aw! Meme's bring us joy, shame, anger, angst. They are works of art that are limitless in they're expression! (usually they are also limitless in their boundaries of morals, but lets' not go there shall we?)

I love meme's and often i find myself wondering what kind of people it takes to make a meme that instantly becomes viral!

It at this point i stall what i am doing and take a look at the friends list i have acquired on face book! Then i go, oh yeah that's right! Normal everyday people who in the eyes of most professional standing don't have a "voice" are the genius behind these work of masterful (though usually tactless) pieces of art.

Many of these can be found on a popular, and equally infamous site that i will not name but only say it has a 4 in the URL and rhymes with Fan. (No that doesn't mean go looking for it! Finish the blog first!)

At any rate what i am getting at this time is Hey, Meme's are funny awesome and come in all different shapes colours and sizes. If they are so widely accepted by the general population then why isn't everything else that follows the same principal (like race religion ect.) also accepted no matter who or where they come from?

Eh, maybe the meme's will tell me.

The Cute Meme!
The Funny Meme

The Opinion based meme (TAME)

The Perspective Meme!

Oh here it is, The Biased-opinion Meme! I was wondering where that was hiding.

Ahh and finally the, If you know Meme.

So what was the point of this show and tell, none really. Just because i can.

This has been Memes of the hour With Natural Opinion! And remember folks, you are more then welcome to post your own natural opinion in the comment section below! Just click the link Below this entry!

Trying Too Hard

Hello again and welcome back to Natural Opinion. Today our topic is 'trying too hard' and no for those of you snickering at the back of the class that doesn't mean getting to second base.

To clarify I am going to rag on those people out there who think it's so awesome to be part of 18billion people who LOVE pineapples, and the 17 thousand people who hate regular apples because they are inferior to the pineapple- let not forget the 33 hundred people who can't go a day with out eating a pineapple, and the 100 who have fantasies about said pineapple and want to marry it and the 5 people who will abduct the pineapple and make it in to their personal sex slaves.

"Why N.O. no body is that obsessed with fruit! Why are you taking this so seriously?"

Well for those of you asking this question, i will say "Congratulations, you deserve a sign." For those of you who understood the metaphor but just said, "I'm not like that." as you glance at your posters of your favorite Twitter, Youtube or Facebook star of the moment. I say fore shame.

For everyone else, the average Joe (or Jane) of cyberspace, I ask in return; 'Why is everyone trying so hard?' It seems these days you can't turn around with out someone trying to be the next It girl, the scandal setter, or even the homecoming queen of queens. Everyone is following one trend or another near blindly and they forget that they are just following the sheep being herded in to the slaughter house.

It is the people who have to try and impress people with their lacking of wit and their not so subtle cloning of someone else that are killing the creativity of the world. (before you tell me i am wrong go look at Hollywood and rethink that).

The phrase 'If everyone was jumpnig off a bridge would you follow them?' comes to mind suddenly, and apparently the answer for most people who live on this planet would say YES I HAVE THEM ALL ON TWITTER AND FB AND MYSPACE AND WE'RE MEETING UP FOR THE BIG JUMP THIS AFTER NOON.

Seriously! People wake up! As the comic above shows us, 'A really great idea is easily sold.' but a really dumb idea is even easier to follow!

In short, STOP TRYING SO HARD! Don't post your every move on Twitter, FB Myspace or even Youtube. Don't clone Gaga because everyone thinks pointed bras are suddenly cool again. Don't rush out and by rocker t-shirts and hoodies because the next guitar hero hit stores. Don't pierce your lower lip because every thinks it looks cool.

Just be your self and who cares what everyone thinks at the end of the day, because as the great Dr. Suess said.

Think about it.

I Don't Even Know....

So, Since it's past midnight and I am still awake I think i am going to post up a Natural Opinion for you all to dwell over for a moment.

Social Media has once again done the impossible. Shocked me with the amount of fuckary they give to the insignificant. Seriously, the very idea so many people would CARE over the exact time a birthday wish is sent out for a kid who is just turning 18 is astounding. Well forget that the "kid" is some super-heart-throb-Pop-Idol for a moment.

What is so important about the apparently big 18? Especially when they kid is from Canada... that doesn't make him legal in Canada, nor in quite a few of the states so tweets that say "finally legal" must surely refer to sexual relations rather then drinking age or tabacco buying.

That is one can of worms i don't even want to go in to, I am sure many trolling grounds are already buzzing ready to release their fury on the fandom that apparently give a crap about this kid being legal, and crying or spamming twitter, FB, the street outside with chalk.... anywhere they can announce that TODAY HE IS 18!

Take a look; this is just a few tweets out of a couple thousand in a matter of seconds.
